Hit:

Hit is a request for a file on a web server. Each HTML document and graphic file counts as a separate hit, so they aren't an accurate representation of the number of different visitors to your site.

HTML:

Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) is a markup language designed for the creation of web pages and other information viewable in a browser.

 

HTTP:

HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) is the foundation protocol of the World Wide Web. It sets the rules for exchanges between browser and server. It provides for the transfer of hypertext and hypermedia, for recognition of file types, and other functions.

 

HTTPS:

HTTPS is the secure version of HTTP, the communication protocol of the World Wide Web. It was invented by Netscape Communications Corporation to provide authentication and encrypted communication and is used in electronic commerce.

 

Hyperlink or Hypertext Link:

When the HTML document is viewed with the Web browser, the tag information between angle brackets is not visible, but the words Web Search Tools are displayed in whatever format or color is defined for links by the browser or the document's author (the browser default is often blue, underlined text but HTML authors may specify any color or style). When the user selects these words, the document index.html will be displayed, having been fetched from the Web server www.yqaresearch.com, where it was found in the path /gnrt/websearch.

 

Hypertext:

Hypertext is a user interface paradigm for displaying documents which contain automated cross-references to other documents called hyperlinks. Selecting a hyperlink causes the computer to display the linked document within a very short period of time.

 

Image Map:

In HTML, a list of co-ordinates relating to a specific image, created in order to hyperlink areas of the image to various destinations. For example, a map of the world may have each country hyperlinked to further information about that country. The intention of an image map is to provide an easy way of linking various parts of an image without resorting to dividing the image into separate parts.

 

Inbound Link or Incoming Link:

A link to a particular page from elsewhere on the internet.

 

Internal Link:

A link that is pointing to some other page within the same website. The opposite of internal link is the external link.

 

IP Address:

A unique number used to specify hosts and networks. Internet Protocol (IP) numbers are used for identifying machines that are connected to the Internet. They consist of four parts separated by dots. They would look something like this 216.119.81.205. Every machine that is on the Internet has a unique IP number.

 

ISP:

Abbreviation for Internet service provider. An ISP provides Internet access and often web site hosting services.
